About Me

Hello.  I'm Madison and I am mum to a gorgeous, healthy and very bright 5 year old boy.  He's your typical little boy with a love of trains, trains and trains.  He has told me quite categorically that he loves trains more than he loves his old Mum!  In fact he has prioritised his love in descending order for us.  Number one is trains, then it's Mum and then poor Dad comes in at the bottom of the pile.

Aside from his love of trains making him unique he has multiple allergies.  Nuts, wheat, dairy, egg, beef, citrus, berries and latex.  Until very recently he was also allergic to soya.

I've met a lot of parents with allergic children but of those I have met only a few have multiple allergies.  We're a rare breed and I've found our dilemmas are that little bit different.  For example instead of wondering which restaurants are safe for our child to eat in a parent of a multiple allergic child worry about what to pack in the child's packed lunch or dinner.  There is no way we could consider allowing our child to consume food from a restaurant.  The thought sends me into a right tizz.

Aside from being Mum to the Wee Man and wife to the Big Man, I also run the Hertfordshire Allergy Support Group with the help and support of the Anaphylaxis Campaign and the Allergy Clinic at the Lister Hospital.
